Selecting the
list icon beside the search fields will reveal a list of terms that occur in records. These terms may be dragged across into search fields using the
left pointing arrow for inclusion in searches. Terms with a
plus symbol before them may be expanded to reveal narrower terms and selecting the
minus symbol will cause them to implode again. By first entering the first letter(s) of a term before selecting the list icon you can jump alphabetically to the relevant area on the list to save time browsing the list.
Click on the Field Name to reveal further instructions on entering search terms for the particular search field.
Truncation allows non-exact words that partly match your search term to be selected. For example if you search for the term 'arch' and truncation is switched on, then you will also select records containing 'architecture' or 'archaeology'. The tick in the box beside the search field indicates that truncation is switched on. To switch it off, click on the tick and un-check the box.
Results are sorted into Image Reference order by default though may be sorted by Photographer or Date by selecting the appropriate Sort by radio button. The Records per page control defines the number of records displayed on each page of the search results.
